— WINERY CASE STUDY
Hill Family Estate
A stronger digital foundation for organic visibility, on-site engagement, and future-facing discovery.
How Hill Family Estate Strengthened Organic Visibility and On-Site Engagement
WSI rebuilt the Hill Family Estate website and strengthened its SEO foundation, giving visitors a clearer, faster path to the brand’s wines and story. The result was substantially higher organic reach and a sharply more engaged on-site audience.
The Challenge
As an established Napa Valley wine brand, Hill Family Estate needed a website that reflected the quality of its wines and hospitality experience. The site needed to do more than look the part: it needed a stronger technical and content foundation to be found in search, hold visitor attention once they arrived, and reduce the number of visitors who left after a single page. This matches WSI’s broader approach of building digital systems that connect visibility, structure, and measurable engagement.
Our Approach
Website Design
WSI rebuilt the Hill Family Estate website around clarity, brand storytelling, and ease of navigation, with particular attention to structure and load performance. A cleaner site experience gives visitors more reasons to explore beyond the first page they land on.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
WSI strengthened the site’s organic SEO foundation through improved page architecture, content structure, and topical depth. Organic search has remained Hill Family Estate’s largest acquisition channel throughout the engagement, and that channel grew both in raw volume and as a share of total traffic.
GEO / AI Visibility Readiness
Beyond traditional search, WSI is building Hill Family Estate’s foundation for Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and AI Visibility, structuring content so it is well-positioned for visibility in AI-generated answers and emerging search experiences. This work is forward-looking: it positions the brand for the next phase of discovery rather than being reflected in the historical performance data below.

Business Impact
This project gave Hill Family Estate more than a new website. Comparing the same six-month reporting window (January 1–June 30) across years, the site nearly doubled its organic search sessions, grew total engaged sessions by more than half, and cut its bounce rate by roughly nine-tenths. Visitors are not just arriving in greater numbers; they are exploring far more of the site once they get there.
Results
This project gave Hill Family Estate more than a new website; it gave the brand a digital foundation built to perform across three connected layers: design, search visibility, and forward-looking AI discoverability. Over our time with Hill Family, we have seen organic search sessions grow nearly 70%, total sessions grow by more than half, and the bounce rate fell by roughly nine-tenths. Visitors are not just arriving in greater numbers; they are exploring far more of the site once they get there, which is the clearest sign that the redesign is doing its job. A bounce rate that falls from roughly 53% to roughly 5% is not a marginal improvement. It reflects a fundamentally different first impression, one where visitors find what they are looking for quickly enough to keep going instead of leaving.
Each of the three services WSI delivered plays a distinct role in that outcome, and none of them works as well in isolation. The website redesign matters because it is the foundation everything else stands on: faster load times, clearer navigation, and a structure that mirrors how visitors actually look for wine, tasting room, and hospitality information. Without that foundation, an SEO program can drive more visitors to the site without giving them anywhere good to land, and the bounce rate problem persists even as traffic grows. SEO matters because it determines whether the redesigned site gets found at all. Organic search has remained Hill Family Estate’s single largest acquisition channel throughout this engagement, which means the content structure and page architecture work behind the scenes directly shapes how much of the broader Napa wine search audience ever reaches the site in the first place. GEO and AI Visibility readiness matters for a different reason: it is not yet reflected in the historical numbers above, but it positions Hill Family Estate for how people are increasingly finding wineries, through AI-generated answers and conversational search rather than a traditional results page alone. Brands that wait until that shift is fully underway to build the underlying content structure will be starting from behind; building that readiness now, alongside design and SEO, is what keeps Hill Family Estate’s digital presence durable as discovery continues to change.
